What are Akoya pearls?

Akoya pearls are saltwater pearls cultivated from the Pinctada fucata martensii oyster. Their core characteristics are their delicate luster and rounded shape.

What is the cultivation cycle for Akoya pearls?

From fry cultivation to pearl harvesting, the entire process takes approximately 1.5-2 years: the fry mature in 6-8 months, followed by implantation of the pearl nucleus and cultivation for 10-14 months. The pearls are harvested when the nacre reaches a thickness of 0.3-0.5mm.

Are any drugs used during the cultivation process? Does it comply with environmental standards?

Akoya pearls are cultivated using an ecologically sound method. Low-toxic chemicals that comply with Japan's "Pearl Farming Industry Standards" are only used during the fry disease prevention period. The water quality in the cultivation area is regularly tested (dissolved oxygen ≥5mg/L, pH 7.8-8.5). This complies with China's "Technical Specifications for Seawater Pearl Culture" and the EU ECOCERT environmental certification requirements.

Do wholesale Akoya pearls come with quality certificates?

Each shipment comes with an authorized testing certificate. You can choose from: GRC International Jewelry Testing Certificate (a joint venture between China and Thailand), GUILD Jewelry Appraisal Certificate (USA), or Pearl Science Lab (Japan). Testing fees are an additional charge.
